Wheel truing & wheel service

Wheels take the hits: potholes, curbs, river-trail debris. We true wheels, replace broken spokes, check tension, and set up tubeless tires.

Truing, explained

A wheel can go out of true laterally (a side-to-side wobble you see at the brake or frame) or radially (a hop up and down). Truing brings both back in line by adjusting spoke tension, a little at a time, around the wheel. Done right, it also evens out tension so the wheel stays true longer, and checks that the rim is centered (dished) in the frame.

What we do

  • Lateral and radial truing, plus dish check
  • Spoke tension check and balancing
  • Broken spoke and nipple replacement
  • Hub bearing check
  • Tubeless setup, sealant refresh and valve service
  • Tire installs and flat repair

Wheel building (new wheels laced from hubs, spokes and rims): confirm with us [CONFIRM]. Prices: quote on inspection.

When to bring a wheel in

  • A wobble you can see, or rim brakes that rub once per turn
  • A pinging or ticking sound from the wheel
  • A loose or broken spoke
  • After a hard pothole or curb hit, even if it looks fine

Carbon rims need extra care after an impact. If you've hit something hard, have the rim checked for damage before your next fast descent.

Questions riders ask

Can you fix a broken spoke?

Yes. We replace broken spokes and nipples and re-true the wheel. Some wheels use proprietary spokes; we'll check availability.

Can a carbon wheel be trued?

Yes, carbon wheels are trued the same way, by adjusting spoke tension. If the rim itself is damaged, we'll tell you before doing any work.

Do you set up tubeless tires?

Yes: tubeless installs, conversions, sealant refreshes and valve service.
